SmoothWall GPL 1.0 (and 0.9.9 SE) Information
This web site contains additional unofficial and unsupported SmoothWall GPL 1.0 documentation and information. It is information that I have either written and compiled myself, or have linked to (externally) and is in no way related to the official SmoothWall documentation.
If you choose to make any of the changes outlined in this documentation, then please do not expect to get support from the official SmoothWall GPL support channels. Support for these changes is to be supplied by yourself! :) That being said, the reason for the existence of a lot of the information in this site is to save answering the same questions time and again in the #gplsupport irc channel.
There is an unofficial newsgroup that you should be able to access from either this link or through your ISPs "nntp" server. Posters on this unofficial newsgroup may well be able to or willing to provide assistance for various SmoothWall modifications.
This site is being constantly updated as I come across more information that will help people get the most out of their SmoothWall GPL 1.0 devices. If there is any information that you think would be useful, please contact me.
Some of the features that people are looking for are already available in the Corporate Server package and its modules. If you don't feel comfortable fiddling with a perfectly functional computer, a Linux operating system, or a security device, then please consider the commercial versions of SmoothWall if they suit your needs. There is more functionality being developed for the commercial products all the time - email sales@smoothwall.co.uk if a feature is not present that you would like to see in a *firewall* product (ie - no emails asking for mail, web or any other servers).
